Frequently asked questions
How does Smartious work with PA Act 169 for Pittsburgh families?
PA Act 169 requires notarised affidavit, portfolio of work, annual evaluator letter, and standardised testing in grades 3, 5, 8. Smartious provides graded coursework, quarterly progress reports, attendance logs, and certified transcripts — exactly what Allegheny County evaluators expect. Pittsburgh families typically work with evaluators recommended by Pennsylvania Homeschoolers (PHAA), Christian Educators of Pennsylvania (CHAP), or PHEN.
Does Smartious help Pittsburgh families apply to CMU and Pitt?
Yes. Carnegie Mellon (especially School of Computer Science, College of Engineering, Tepper Business School) and University of Pittsburgh (Honors College, Swanson Engineering, Pitt Med pipeline) both accept Cambridge IGCSE and A-Level. CMU SCS is among the most competitive CS admissions in America — Cambridge Further Mathematics A-Level provides depth that admissions officers explicitly value. We provide free Common App and CMU/Pitt application support.
Which Pittsburgh neighborhoods and suburbs do you serve?
All of Greater Pittsburgh including City of Pittsburgh (Squirrel Hill, Shadyside, Point Breeze, East Liberty, Lawrenceville, Strip District) and South Hills (Mount Lebanon, Upper St. Clair, Bethel Park, Peters Township, McMurray), plus North Hills (Sewickley, Fox Chapel, O'Hara, Hampton Township, Wexford), and Butler County (Cranberry Township, Mars). Allegheny, Butler, Washington, and Westmoreland County families all access identical service.
