Tuition questions, answered
What subjects do you tutor?
All major academic subjects across IGCSE, A-Level, IB, American and CBC curricula. Core subjects include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English (Language and Literature), Computer Science, Business Studies, Economics, Accounting, Geography and History. Foreign languages: French, Spanish, German, Mandarin, Arabic, Kiswahili. Specialised subjects (Music, Art, Design) available on request.
How much does Smartious tuition cost?
Tuition rates vary by curriculum level, subject specialism, and delivery mode (online, in-centre, home tutoring). We have flexible packages — single-subject focused support through to full-curriculum tutoring. Book an assessment to receive personalised pricing recommendations.
Can I have a trial session before committing?
Yes — we offer free trial sessions so you can experience the teacher and teaching style before signing up for a full programme. This is the easiest way to assess fit.
How are tutors selected?
All Smartious tutors are screened for qualifications, subject expertise and teaching experience. Many hold curriculum-specific certifications (Cambridge, IB) or are practicing professionals (engineers tutoring Mathematics, scientists tutoring sciences, lawyers tutoring Law). We match tutors to students based on subject, curriculum, level and personality.
Can I change tutors if needed?
Yes — fit matters. If a tutor isn't the right match, we can reassign at no penalty. We aim to find the right teacher for your child, not lock you into one assignment.
How are sessions scheduled?
Flexibly — based on your schedule and the tutor's availability. We can do early mornings, after-school, evenings, weekends. Online tuition is most flexible; in-centre uses our centre schedule; home tutoring is mutually agreed with the tutor.
Do you provide progress reports?
Yes — through the Smartious LMS. Parents see attendance, session notes, assignments, grades and progress trends. Monthly summary reports provide a high-level view. Regular parent-tutor check-ins are available on request.
Can you help with exam preparation?
Yes — exam preparation is one of our specialisms. We provide focused preparation for KCSE, IGCSE, A-Level, IB and university entrance examinations (SAT, GRE, GMAT, IELTS, TOEFL — see Test Prep page).
