Frequently asked questions
How does Virginia's Home Instruction Statute work for Richmond families?
Virginia's standard Home Instruction Statute requires annual Notice of Intent (NOI) filed by August 15 with your school division superintendent, plus annual evidence of progress (standardised test, evaluator letter, or alternative). Richmond City, Henrico County, Chesterfield County, and Hanover County families file with their respective divisions. Smartious provides curriculum documentation and assessment support.
Does Smartious help Richmond families apply to UVA, William & Mary, and University of Richmond?
Yes. UVA, William & Mary, University of Richmond, VCU, Randolph-Macon, and Virginia Union all accept Cambridge IGCSE and A-Level. UVA Echols/Jefferson Scholars and William & Mary Murray Scholars programmes particularly value Cambridge A-Level rigour. University of Richmond evaluates homeschool applicants holistically. We provide free Common App and scholarship application support.
