Frequently asked questions

Can Smartious teach California homeschool students under the PSA pathway?

Yes. The Private School Affidavit (PSA) is the most common California homeschool pathway — families file once annually between Oct 1–15 declaring their home as a private school. Smartious enrolment is fully compatible. We provide curriculum descriptions and transcripts you can keep on file for your PSA records. The PSA filing itself is free and takes 15 minutes online.

How much does Smartious cost for California families in USD?

Tuition starts from USD 423 per month, and the exact figure depends on the pathway, the year group and the subjects your child takes. Request pricing through the enrolment form and we send the full structure the same day. Every programme includes live qualified teachers, recorded lessons for review, marked work and termly reports, with no surprise fees.

Is Smartious recognized by Stanford, UC Berkeley, and UCLA?

Yes. Stanford, UC Berkeley, UCLA, USC, Caltech and UC San Diego all accept Cambridge IGCSE and A-Level qualifications — Cambridge A-Level is often weighted MORE heavily than AP courses in elite admissions. We provide free Common App, UC application, and recommendation letter support to maximise California university admission chances.

What's the live class schedule for Bay Area families on Pacific Time?

Live classes run 5 AM – 2 PM Pacific Time, Monday through Friday. Early morning blocks (5–8 AM PT) work well for Bay Area tech-parent schedules where one parent often handles morning supervision before work. All sessions are recorded — students can review any class on-demand. Most California families combine 2 live + 2 recorded sessions per subject weekly.

Can my California child use Cambridge IGCSE through Smartious for UC A-G course requirements?

Yes. UC system A-G course requirements accept Cambridge IGCSE and A-Level as equivalent to high school college-preparatory coursework. We map Cambridge subjects to UC A-G categories on every transcript: English (B), Math (C), Lab Science (D), Foreign Language (E), History (A), Visual/Performing Arts (F), and electives (G). Your California UC application will show clear A-G compliance.
