Cyprus has one of the largest private and international school sectors per head anywhere in our ninety-three markets — The English School and the American Academy in Nicosia, the Grammar School, Falcon, Heritage, Foley’s, Pascal, The Island Private School, Silvertree, King’s School Paphos and many more, much of it teaching IGCSE and A-Level for generations. So the honest question is the one I asked in Argentina and Uruguay: what can an online school in Nairobi possibly add? Three things, and I would not stretch to a fourth.
Answer one: the set that will not run
A mathematics problem rather than a quality one. A strong school with a good sixth form still cannot justify a specialist teacher and a room for four students who want Further Mathematics, or three who want a third science, or two who want Computer Science at A-Level. No head of department is being unreasonable in saying so — the economics do not work at that scale, and Cyprus is a small island. In a live group drawn from Nicosia, Amman, Nairobi and the Gulf, four becomes a full class taught by a subject specialist. For a large share of our Cypriot students that is the entire product.
Answer two: no waitlist
This one is specific to Limassol and Larnaca and it comes up constantly. Private school demand in Limassol has grown faster than places — a ship management industry among the largest in the world, forex and fintech, and a very large Russian-speaking, Ukrainian, Israeli and Lebanese resident community all arriving at once. Families landing mid-year regularly find the schools they want are full, and the realistic alternatives are a school they did not choose or a year out of step. We start a child within a week of the assessment. In that situation it is frequently the whole decision rather than one factor among several.
Answer three: the districts where the list is short
Paphos has one of the longest-established British and northern European residential communities in the eastern Mediterranean, spread across coastal towns and hill villages over a wide district, with a short local school list. The Famagusta district runs a concentrated tourism economy around Ayia Napa and Protaras with minimal provision and a working year that peaks hard. In both, we are not competing with a campus but reaching where campuses are not — and in the eastern district the recorded library matters as much as the live teaching, because a hospitality household cannot pause in July.
The clock, which is almost nothing
Cyprus runs UTC+2 in winter and UTC+3 in summer against our UTC+3 year-round, so we are one hour apart in winter and exactly level in summer. Effectively our whole teaching day is available — after-school for a Nicosia professional household, evening for a Protaras hospitality one, mid-morning for a family on a permitted arrangement. Among ninety-three markets only Jordan and Iraq are closer, and they are at zero.
And what I will not claim
That we are better than schools teaching Cambridge on this island for generations — we are not, and in-person school culture and a local peer group are things live delivery cannot replicate. That Cambridge is unfamiliar in Cyprus — it predates most of our markets. That we hold Ministry approval — we do not, and private schools here require it. And that I know whether elective home education is permitted — the sources give three different answers and I would rather say so than pick the convenient one. Narrow and honest is the only version worth having in a market this well served.

We have no waitlist. A child starts within a week of the assessment and keeps one internationally examined pathway rather than being placed wherever there happens to be a space.

Do you hold Ministry approval?+
No. Private schools in Cyprus require Ministry approval and we do not hold it. We teach alongside a Cypriot school that does.
