Online school in Muharraq
Cambridge IGCSE and A Level for Bahraini families in Muharraq, Hidd, Arad and Diyar Al Muharraq, alongside Arabic and Islamic Studies.
Muharraq, Bahrain's old capital and second city, is home to many Bahraini families who want an English-medium international qualification for their children without losing Arabic and Islamic Studies. New communities in Diyar Al Muharraq and Hidd have added young families who work in Manama or at the airport. Smartious teaches Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel live online on Bahrain time, including Cambridge IGCSE Arabic and Islamic Studies, as a full online school or alongside a local school.
Challenges Muharraq families face
- Families who want IGCSE and A Level for university abroad, but also strong Arabic and Islamic Studies.
- Bridge traffic between Muharraq and Manama at school times.
- New Diyar Al Muharraq families whose preferred schools are on the main island.
- Students in national schools who want to add Cambridge IGCSE English or Mathematics.
Why Muharraq families choose Smartious
- Arabic and Islamic Studies included: Cambridge IGCSE Arabic and Islamic Studies sit alongside English, Mathematics and the sciences in one timetable.
- A Cambridge registered school: Smartious is a Cambridge International registered school and a Pearson Edexcel approved centre, teaching to the current Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel syllabuses. Certificates are issued by Cambridge and Pearson, the same as for students at any other school.
- Clear on university entry: The University of Bahrain's published admission policy recognises secondary certificates on the Ministry of Education's attestation and lists GCSE/IGCSE, AP and IB among the certificates it accepts. Students starting university in Bahrain need their secondary certificates authenticated, as the Higher Education Council requires, and the Ministry's Private Education Directorate issues equivalency letters. Requirements change, so check the university and the Ministry before choosing subjects.
- Clear fees: Online school is from USD 423/month for Primary (≈ BHD 159/month at about BHD 0.376/USD, Oct 2026 rate), payable termly. Secondary, IGCSE, A Level and IB fees vary by curriculum and level. One-to-one tuition is USD 15/hour (≈ BHD 5.6). Fees are non-refundable once the assessment is done, the timetable created and lessons started.
